Alumni Weekend

From October 21-23, Harvey Mudd alumni were invited back to campus to celebrate Alumni Weekend!

Friday begun the festivities with the Welcome Reception with Academic Departments on Strauss Plaza. There were color coded tables for the different departments: Humanities, Social Sciences and the Arts, Biology, Engineering, Math, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Physics. This was a perfect opportunity for current students and alumni alike to connect with Mudders within their major.

Saturday’s events consisted of a State of the College Address given by President Klawe in Galileo, Makerspace tours, and an Alumni/Student Dessert Social with ASHMC Clubs in the Festival Tent. In the evening, reunion class dinners were held for the milestone classes between 1977-2017 for alumni to reconnect with their former classmates.

The last day of Alumni Weekend saw the Gonzo Unicycle Meetup, where those who were keen on learning how to ride a unicycle or those who already knew how to could get together and unicycle around campus. And last but definitely not least, closing out Alumni Weekend was a In-N-Out food truck.

Aside from the formal events, there were a number of other things that alumni could do over the weekend. There were arcade games inside Platt for everyone to enjoy, as well as orchestra concerts, rugby, basketball, volleyball, and soccer games, improv shows, and rock performances to name a few. Alumni weekend was a great opportunity to reminisce on the past and relive one’s college days, and I can’t wait to come back in 5-10 years when I’m an alumni and see what the future holds for Harvey Mudd.
