President’s Scholars Program

Congratulations on being selected as a President’s Scholars Program Finalist!

The President’s Scholars Program (PSP) is a renewable, four-year, full-tuition scholarship program that identifies and encourages outstanding scholars who have the potential to be future leaders in engineering, science, mathematics and technology, and who are committed to making an impact in their community and in the world.

  • 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm – United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals Activity

FAQ’s

Below are some FAQ’s for our PSP students:

  1. Are there next steps for local students attending the PSP or ASP event?
    1. Kevin Arifin, the President’s Scholars Program coordinator, will send communications regarding check-in instructions for the event and information regarding campus overnight accommodations, if applicable.
  2. How do I book my travel to campus?
    1. Travel agent from Squire Travels Laurel Haley will contact you with a proposed travel itinerary. HMC has given them guidelines on how to proceed with your travel; however, we understand that there might be special circumstances that we may not be aware of (such as working around school schedules, events, etc.). If there are any concerns, please do not approve the itinerary and inform our travel agent or contact the President’s Scholars Program coordinator, Kevin Arifin (karifin@hmc.edu).
    2. Your departure schedule will be based on the days you stated you will be staying on campus. However, if there are any concerns with the itinerary, please let us know.
    3. All students are expected to approve their travel itinerary as soon as possible.
  3. Where will I be arriving?
    1. Students and families will arrive at Ontario airport (about 10 miles away from campus). In some cases, students may fly into Los Angeles International airport which is about 50 miles away. In any case, we will update you about transportation to and from the airport. In past cases, we’ve used shuttle services and/or Uber/Lyft vouchers.
  4. When do I need to arrive on campus?
    1. PSP Event on Saturday, April 11 –
      1. For students who are not local to Southern California, you’ll need to arrive by Friday night. We will only accommodate Saturday flights that arrive in time prior to the start of the President’s Scholars Program on Saturday, April 11th (if this is not the case we will ask you to travel earlier).       2. For students who are local, you are encouraged to arrive before 10:30 am to check in.

      1. We will arrange your travel based on the nights you stated you will be staying on campus.
  5. What travel arrangements will HMC not financially cover?
    1. HMC will not arrange the travel and cost from your home (or school) to your local airport.

    3. PSP Finalists and guardians are responsible for arranging travel transportation to and from their local airport. If you have any special circumstances or need help, please contact the President’s Scholars Program coordinator, Kevin Arifin (karifin@hmc.edu).
  6. I’ve indicated I want to be hosted by a current Mudder – what’s next?
    1. We are excited about your interest to stay overnight on our campus! For students arriving on Friday night, we will connect you with a Mudder who will host you in their dorm/common living areas. We do not provide beds, linens, etc., so you must bring your own sleeping bag, toiletries, towels etc. For students arriving Saturday and planning to stay overnight for the Admitted Student Program, we will also give you the host information upon your arrival.
  7. Who will be interviewing me for PSP? Where will they take place?
    1. Our PSP interviews will all take place virtually. We will begin matching PSP finalists with Harvey Mudd faculty and staff members. We will send that information out to you shortly after the registration deadline, March 19. You are expected to complete your interview by Thursday, April 9, 2026.
