Photo Ops around Mudd Part II: ASPhotos!

Share story

Hey ASPeople! First of all, a big congratulations on your acceptance to Mudd! As you probably already know, ASP (Admitted Student Program) is happening on April 10th from 9am-5pm in person at Harvey Mudd. We hope to see you there!

If you haven’t seen my previous blog post on photo opportunities around Mudd, check it out! This is Part II: cool spots around Mudd for prospective Mudders (like all of you!) to take pictures. You can use these as college decision photos or to share with friends and family! I highly recommend exploring all of these places during your free time while here for ASP.

First, we have the classic Harvey Mudd sign outside one of the entrances to the college. Before coming into the college, this photo spot is not to be missed! Plus, there’s so many ways to pose with the sign—you can stand near it, sit on it, lie on it, jump next to it, really anything that your heart desires.

Next, we have the Jay’s Place mural! On the stairway down to this underground, late-night cafe, you’ll find a beautiful painted wall that’s perfect for posing in front of. Jay’s Place is a favorite spot among Mudders for a midnight snack—my personal favorite is the steak quesadillas they serve. If you need a boost of caffeine, they serve drinks pretty late into the night! Currently it’s only open for pickup due to COVID, but we’re all excited for the day the pool tables and seats make their return.

If you happen to stick around into the evening, you can head over to the west side of campus (near the Keck, Sprague, and Parsons buildings) to watch the string lights turn on overhead! These scenic courtyards have beautiful lighting and are perfect for some evening skygazing.

Once you make your way over to Res End (the east side of Harvey Mudd campus, where all the dorms are), you’ll pass by the Linde Activities Center, which we Mudders call the LAC. The trees outside are in bloom during springtime! Just before sunset, the pink flowers will start to glow slightly golden, and there are many picturesque places to pose among the plants.

If you’re willing to take a bit of a trek along the outskirts of campus, you’ll find even more signs to pose in front of! Walk north along the right side of Dartmouth Avenue and you’ll first pass by another Harvey Mudd College sign, and then a Claremont Colleges sign (so you can already start getting excited about taking classes and eating food at the other 5C’s!)

We’re all so excited to have prefrosh on campus this weekend, and I hope you can find time during your activity-packed day at ASP to come out and take some amazing photos around campus. And once again, a warm-hearted congratulations from us all!
