Sit Back and ResL-ax: ResLife Events!

Share story

Mudd isn’t all about studying and coursework: when it’s time to relax, Mudders have a huge variety of events to choose from! In fact, each residential hall on campus hosts its own student-led “ResLife” events after classes end, allowing students to sit back and chill with friends, mentors, and proctors. Here are just a select few of those events:

Atwood’s courtyard

This month, Atwood hosted a s’more making event in its dorm courtyard. All supplies—chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers—were provided, and Atwoodians toasted (or burned) marshmallows with a hand torch. Beverages like iced tea, cold brew, and lemonade were also up for grabs, and students chatted it up with their friends after a long day of classes and homework!

Meanwhile, South’s Prof Frosh series has been going strong. In South’s community lounge, any frosh Southie can choose to be the “Prof Frosh” of the week, where they give an “educational” presentation on their topic of choice. This year, there’s been presentations on Mean Girls, Music Theory, balloon animals, you name it, there’s a Prof Frosh for it. Snacks are provided, as usual, as well as knowledge and a good time.

Further along Res End, Case Dorm has held recurring QRC walks this year, an event where Case ResLife walks frosh down to the Queer Resource Center at Pomona. It’s super helpful for those who might want to access free LGBTQIA+ resources or just find a community, but don’t know where to go. Case residents have gone to exchange their old clothes for gender-affirming clothing, or just explore the resources available to them at the QRC!

In summary, Mudd frosh should not fear boredom: at HMC, there’s no such concept. ResLife from each dorm are always planning new and exciting activities, and they can’t wait for you to join them!
