Jay’s Place

Taking a study break or need a midnight snack? Jay’s Place is here to serve all your late night needs! Jay’s Place is located in the basement of Platt, and is open from 7 p.m. – 1 a.m. Sunday to Thursday and 8 p.m. – 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Jay’s Place is named in remembrance of Jay Wolkin ‘99, who passed away in an airplane accident before he was scheduled to graduate Mudd. In order to honor Jay’s legacy and life, the eatery, formerly named The Little Pizza Place, was renovated and renamed.

Jay’s allows students to fulfill their cravings even when the dining hall and café are closed. Students can flex out using their dining hall money, use their Claremont Cash, or pay with credit/debit to buy a variety of snacks, drinks, and meals. Jay’s serves everything from small bites like ice cream and candy to soft drinks, sandwiches, and burgers. If you’re feeling up to it, you can even get a whole pizza to split with your friends! To top it off, just like Mudd’s café, Jay’s Place serves Starbucks drinks and coffee. A few of my favorite items would have to be the churros and the quesadillas.

Even if you’re not in the mood for a bite to eat, Jay’s is a great place to just hang out with friends. There is plenty of seating and a cozy ambiance, and many students simply go to get out of their dorms and socialize.
