Welcome to HMC’s accreditation website. Here you will find complete information related to HMC’s accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
HMC is currently preparing for a reaffirmation visit in Spring 2021 under the Thematic Pathway for Review. A full description of the reaffirmation process, including links to relevant documents, can be found here.
In July 2011, HMC’s accreditation by WSCUC was reaffirmed for a 10-year period, the maximum term possible. The Commission Action Letter conveying HMC’s accreditation is here. The letter includes both the commission’s commendations and recommendations for campus action, including an interim report that was submitted March 1, 2016.
The commission’s decision was informed by the report of the review team, that conducted the Accreditation Visit to HMC from March 1 to March 3, 2011, and by HMC’s Educational Effectiveness Report, submitted to WSCUC on December 10, 2010.
HMC appreciates the guidance provided by the review team and the commission in support of the campus’s continued development. Specialized accreditation information can be found below.
Since 1962, the Department of Engineering has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
The program in chemistry meets the requirements of the American Chemical Society, making chemistry graduates eligible for membership in the society immediately upon graduation.
To support accreditation efforts and sustain the excellence of its programs, Harvey Mudd College also engages in rigorous program reviews (on a seven-year cycle) of all academic departments, including assessment by outside peer-review teams.
