Biology Research Opportunities at Harvey Mudd College
The HMC Biology Research Program has a number of projects to get involved in. Summer research students in Biology are generally expected to work full-time for 10 weeks during the summer. The exact starting and ending dates are stipulated by the faculty advisor. This is a 10-week full-time (40 hrs/week) research experience. Thus, students should not also enroll in summer courses.
In addition, all summer research students must agree to present a poster at the HMC Summer Research Celebration in September.
Stipends for summer research students are expected to be approximately $5,000.
- Review the projects at Undergraduate Research Opportunities. This is a college-wide site, so the projects here include many areas in addition to biology.
- Fill out an application on that same site for the project(s) that interest you.
- Talk to relevant biology faculty about the biology project(s) that interest you.
- Submit this summer research application. This is a biology-specific form where you will rank your interest in different projects thereby helping the Biology Department assign students to projects in the best way.
