DUNS stands for Data Universal Numbering System. The DUNS number is a unique code assigned to organizations by the business information firm Dun & Bradstreet. The federal government typically requires entities with which it does business to have a DUNS number.

System for Award Management (SAM) Unique Entity ID will replace the DUNS number as the primary means of entity identification for Federal awards government-wide.  This number will be required for proposals submitted in and FastLane beginning April 4, 2022.

Employer Identification Number

It identifies corporations and organizations, including non-profits, who must file tax returns.
