Gemini for Education

Service Description

Gemini for Education is a generative AI component of HMC’s instance of Google Workspace for Education Plus. There are two levels of this service: “Gemini for Education” is the broader offering for educational institutions, built on Google Workspace for Education and utilizing the advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro model for learning. “Google AI Pro for Education” is not a separate product but refers to the premium features and higher limits of the Gemini 2.5 Pro model that are part of the Google AI Pro for Education add-on, which integrates Gemini into Workspace apps like Gmail and Docs, and adds additional functionality to the main Gemini for Education.

Gemini in Google Workspace (g.hmc.edu) is an approved tool for use with HMC data at protection levels P1 through P4. (See Using AI with HMC Data)

Availability

HMC faculty, staff and students have access to Gemini for Education as part of Google Workspace.

Faculty and staff may request access to a paid license for Google AI Pro for Education using our form (HMC Credentials required).

Login Page

Go to gemini.google.com and log in using your HMC credentials.

How to Access the Service

You can access the chat service by visiting gemini.google.com and either logging in with your HMC credentials or checking that you are logged in (look for your g.hmc.edu account avatar on the top right). Depending on the levels of service, (basic vs pro) you may also see the “Ask Gemini” logo in various places in Google Workspace.
