AI: Academic Impact
AI Study Group
The Faculty Executive Committee (FEC) has convened a study group focused on AI in the classroom. The charge of this group is to explore academic integrity in the AI era; engage stakeholders and gather input; and identify resources, supports, and capacity building that might be most impactful.
The AI Study Group has been asked to:

Innovation Accelerator for AI (IAL-AI)
HMC students and faculty are well prepared to explore both the technical frontiers of AI and the human dimensions of its impact. They can be a significant part of ensuring that this technology is harnessed for the betterment of society.
In September 2025, the college announced Internal Funding Awards to Advance AI in Alignment with the HMC Strategic Plan and Comprehensive Campaign
A new endowed professorship in AI is currently under recruitment, with the first hire expected in Fall 2026. That position will engage closely with the IAL–AI as it develops.
