70 Years of Mudd Moments
Remember those moments when the spirit of our community came alive for you?
Each of us chose to become a part of the Harvey Mudd community because, at some point and in some way, we felt that we belonged. Whether we were students discovering “our people,” educators and professionals inspired by HMC’s mission, or family members watching our loved ones grow, gain confidence and thrive, we all share one common thread—that sense of connection rooted in what we call “Mudd Moments.”

Inspired by our past, embracing our future
Our founders envisioned a groundbreaking approach to undergraduate STEM education, integrating humanities, social sciences and arts to cultivate well-rounded leaders and compassionate problem solvers. This student-focused model would emphasize hands-on learning, exceptional teaching, and the interplay between science, engineering, and the human condition. Today, we proudly embrace our identity as the liberal arts college of science and engineering.
