Business Affairs Announces New Staff

Andrew Dorantes, vice president for administration and finance and treasurer, recently announced new staff members in the Business Affairs Office (BAO).

Cliff Gimbert is the associate director for administration–facilities and maintenance. He joined HMC from a career in customer service and operations in private industry. Gimbert also served 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, involved in day-to-day operations, repairs and maintenance. In his HMC role, Gimbert provides direct supervision, mentoring and leadership to the HMC building and general maintenance technicians and the maintenance coordinator to schedule and supervise repairs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, valves, devices and appliances as needed. He works directly with faculty, staff and vendors on facilities projects to develop a scope of work and implement projects.

Marisela Gonzalez is the payroll coordinator. She previously served in human resources and financial aid roles for Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology and UEI College. Gonzalez has experience in administering payroll, managing student accounts, and working with students and families in financial aid. In her HMC role, she is responsible for coordinating the student employment program, administering payroll processing for all students and staff, and assisting supervisors and payroll processors with Kronos Time and Attendance.

Carol Saldivar is associate director for human resources– investigations and employee relations. She brings over 20 years of HR expertise, including experience serving as a paralegal, with knowledge in the areas of benefits administration, employee communication and employee relations. Saldivar previously served as the director of benefits administration at The Claremont Colleges Services for five years and was responsible for managing all benefit plan designs and program administration, annual open enrollment, and negotiation with benefit providers and brokers. In her HMC role, she is responsible for conducting Title IX investigations and supporting faculty and staff regarding employee relation inquires and needs.

Patrice Siffert is associate director for human resources– employment and HR services. She brings over 20 years of HR experience with a focus in recruitment, compensation, benefits, leave of absence coordination, and training and development. Siffert previously served as the interim associate director for human resources at the University of La Verne during the past four years, where she oversaw compensation, managed benefit and retirement programs, coordinated workers’ compensation and leaves, and supervised the HRIS function. In her HMC role, Siffert oversees recruitment and orientation for staff, conducts compensation analysis, manage benefit programs, coordinates leaves of absence and supports other HR services for the College.

Adele Vuong is the business affairs administrator. She comes to Harvey Mudd after serving The Claremont Colleges Services for nine years in a number of capacities, including directing the Administrative Services & Conference Center, Business Affairs, Campus Mail, and the Card Center/Connection. Prior to working at The Claremont Colleges, Vuong was a senior auditor at the national accounting firm McGladrey & Pullen, LLP. In her HMC role, she serves on the Business Office Leadership Team, coordinates the College’s Enterprise Risk Management program, reviews contracts, serves as a resource for insurance matters, administers purchase cards and supports a variety of BAO initiatives.
