Makerspace Equipment

The makerspace provides access to a variety of tools and machinery, from 3D printers to laser cutters to sewing machines.  The machines below are the “Core 4,” the most-used machines in the space—to see a complete list of equipment and areas, visit make.hmc.edu/areas.

Bambu X1C

The Makerspace has 12 Bambu X1C 3d printers available for PLA printing, and two additional printers reserved for special filaments in the Advanced 3d Printing room. Students are allocated 2kg of free filament per semester!

Full Spectrum PS48

The Full Spectrum PS48 laser cutter can cut and engrave wood, acrylic, cardboard, fabric, and more! It’s been used in projects for ENGR 177 – Mechanical Design, Mudd Amateur Rocketry Club, and MuddEscapes!

Brother GX37 Sewing Machine

The Makerspace’s Brother GX37 sewing machines are our most checked-out machines. They’re used for clothing making and repair, tailoring and stuffed animal workshops, and more!

Printers

The Makerspace has two large-format printers that can print matte and glossy posters. They see a lot of use printing research posters and dorm decor. Students can print at the subsidized rate of $1.00/ft2, the cheapest rate on campus.
