Faculty Growth and Start-Up Funds
The College will maintain its current 9:1 student-faculty ratio. As the student population grows, the College will expand the size of the faculty to maintain this ratio. Planning for that expansion will begin with the dean of the faculty and the Department Chairs Committee (DCC). The dean of the faculty and the VP for administration/treasurer will work with the Budget and Educational Planning committees of the board of trustees to seek funding approval for new faculty positions.
Additional endowed faculty positions are a key fundraising priority as part of The Campaign for Harvey Mudd College.
Faculty Start-Up Funds
The board of trustees has approved ongoing funding for the Faculty Start-Up Fund. This funding represents a critical portion of the hiring process because it allows us to hire from the best young teachers and scholars, and it allows new Harvey Mudd faculty members to get a fast start on their teaching and research programs as they move toward tenure and promotion.
