The 2021-22 Meggitt Clinic team is tasked with researching additive manufacturing (AM) technology to address the casting bottleneck in Meggitt’s valve production process. The team is exploring additively manufacturing the wax and ceramic stages of the casting process using a Formlabs Form 2 SLA printer and other relevant printers. Multiple printable materials were evaluated for an example part through a partnership with a local foundry. The cost analysis of AM for the casting process is performed to analyze cost efficiency.
