The Medtronic Clinic project aims to address an inconsistent step in the assembly process of one of Medtronic’s diabetes blood-glucose monitors. Two o-rings that seal the interface between the transmitter half and disposable sensor half of the monitor must be adequately lubricated to allow the user to easily change sensors. The current lubrication process is done by hand, is inconsistent and takes too much time. The team has designed an ergonomic system that quickly and consistently applies an adjustable amount of lubricant.
