Become an Approved Driver
If you would like to get approved to borrow and drive a College vehicle, you will need to submit an Authorized Driver Request Form with the details of the driver and the requesting department/club the student will be driving form. Please submit the completed form along with a copy of your valid drivers license to dean_of_students@g.hmc.edu

Please submit your request as early as possible before your planned travel date. Processing time may vary depending on the number of requests and completion of required training. After submitting the form, check your email for next steps from The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) regarding required driver training.
Authorized Driver Requirements
Minimum requirements: (1) Valid driver’s license within the United States and of the proper class for the type of vehicle to be driven; (2) An acceptable motor vehicle record that demonstrates no more than two combinations of moving violations/accidents for drivers under 21 and no more than three moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in a rolling three year period for drivers over the age of 21.
Drivers are not eligible to drive if the following applies:
- More than three at-fault accidents in the previous 3 years, for drivers over 21
- More than two at-fault accidents and/or moving violations, for drivers under 21
- Any license suspension or restriction
- Any of the following violations that result in a conviction:
- use of vehicle for illegal activities
- driving under the influence (drugs or alcohol)
- racing (or any violation related to racing)
- negligent, reckless or careless driving (or the equivalent)
- hit and run

Additional Criteria for Approved Status
All authorized drivers shall complete one or more training programs based on the nature of the driving that they will be doing for the college. The training requirement will be sent directly to the applicant from The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS). Please allow enough time to complete the training. At the discretion of the college, additional or remedial training may be required based on circumstances unique to the individual’s driving experience.
Reserve a College Vehicle
Students may reserve College vehicles (48 hours in advance) by going to the Facilities and Maintenance page on the HMC website. Students wishing to borrow a College vehicle will be asked to provide a budget code for the club, organization, office or department they are using the vehicle for. Students can also borrow College vehicles for health-related needs but not for general personal needs.
Vehicle Reservation Instructions
Select Room Request-EMS and login with your HMC credentials. Next, hover over Submit a Request and then select HMC Vehicles. Fill out the When and Where box on the left side of the page. Once you select Find Space, you can select vehicles available through Facilities and Maintenance (F&M). Please note that if a vehicle reservation begins after 5 p.m., you must pick up the vehicle binder before offices close at 5 p.m. If your reservation extends over the weekend, you will be contacted with instructions.
