Juniper Networks, a manufacturer of high-performance Internet hardware, tasked us with two projects involving problems faced by the routers that carry network messages. In the first project, we built a system that ensures that the messages are broken into pieces small enough for every intermediate router to handle. In the second, we established benchmarking techniques to determine the effect of IPv6 routing headers upon ASIC performance. Juniper Networks will bring our results to the Internet Engineering Task Force for standardization.
