The Hixon Center for Climate and the Environment and the Office of Civic and Community Engagement are co-organizing a 1.5 day conference on undergraduate climate education on September 18 and 19, 2025. This one and a half-day conference will convene climate experts, teacher-scholars from other disciplines, and community partners to discuss the future of climate education for undergraduates. The goal of the conference is to expand the number of faculty involved in climate education and for those already involved to deepen their understanding of and appreciation for the strengths that multiple perspectives bring to addressing the challenges of climate. A theme throughout the conference will be broadening participation in climate education on our campuses and in our communities.

The conference will begin Thursday, Sept. 18 with a late afternoon reception and an early evening keynote presentation. Oral and poster presentations as well as the facilitated Climate Futures activity will take place on Friday, Sept. 19, with a concluding reception at 4:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive Thursday afternoon and depart either Friday night, or to enjoy the weekend in Southern California.

Registration has a $25 fee that is waived for all members of The Claremont Colleges, and any participant for whom this fee presents a barrier. A waiver code will be provided in a follow up email. This fee ensures a closer agreement to the registration list and the actual in-person attendee numbers, which reduces food waste.
