The K–12 through college CS pipeline is full of barriers which prevent broader participation in the field. Colleen Lewis will describe some of her research to try to identify or remove some of those barriers. She’ll also share ways that people can advocate for policies and practices that can broaden participation in CS.
Lewis is an associate professor of CS at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. From 2012 to 2020, she was CS faculty at Harvey Mudd. In addition to her research, she curates CSTeachingTips.org, an NSF-sponsored project for disseminating effective CS teaching practices.
