Details
In this talk, intended for a broad audience, Rich Sutton will offer perspectives on current AI technologies and their limitations. From his over 40 years of experience in the field of AI, he will envision a paradigm that will usher in the next fundamental breakthroughs in AI. Despite impressive results, many current AI systems are inherently limited by their reliance on human-generated data. In contrast, Sutton argues that future AI systems must instead learn to make decisions based on their own sensorimotor experience of the world.
Speaker
Rich Sutton is recognized (most notably by the 2024 ACM Turing Award) for his pioneering work founding the field of computational reinforcement learning, which focuses specifically on this problem of understanding and creating algorithms that can learn from experience. Sutton will offer perspectives on the future of AI in the “era of experience.”
