SUMMARY:CS Talk– “Thoughts on the Future of Artificial Intelligence\,
 ” Rich Sutton
DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, intended for a broad audience\, Rich Sutton will
  offer perspectives on current AI technologies and their limitations. From
  his over 40 years of experience in the field of AI\, he will envision a p
 aradigm that will usher in the next fundamental breakthroughs in AI. Despi
 te impressive results\, many current AI systems are inherently limited by 
 their reliance on human-generated data. In contrast\, Sutton argues that f
 uture AI systems must instead learn to make decisions based on their own s
 ensorimotor experience of the world.\nSpeaker\nRich Sutton is recognized (
 most notably by the 2024 ACM Turing Award) for his pioneering work foundin
 g the field of computational reinforcement learning\, which focuses specif
 ically on this problem of understanding and creating algorithms that can l
 earn from experience. Sutton will offer perspectives on the future of AI i
 n the “era of experience.”
