COVID-19 Policy Updates, Oct. 8

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

Thank you for your continued support for the College’s COVID-19 prevention measures. With our message last week, we have begun to relax some of our guidelines to allow for greater flexibility, particularly given the decline in positive cases and the continued adherence to preventative measures and testing.

We have also received feedback that when a positive case is announced, it would be helpful for you to know if the case category was a student, faculty or staff member. While this information is shared on the College’s COVID-19 Dashboard, the statistics are not updated in real time. To help address your concerns, moving forward we plan to share the case category in future community announcements.

In addition, beginning October 8, Harvey Mudd will begin allowing College-sponsored travel outside the Southern California area for conferences, meetings, etc. We ask that you continue to closely monitor COVID-19 positivity rates at your destination and that you follow the appropriate local requirements when traveling outside of the region.

We do not anticipate requiring additional COVID-19 testing when you return beyond what already is required based on your vaccination status. Students with questions should contact the Faculty and staff may contact their area vice president or the Office of Human Resources with questions.

We are updating the College’s Return to Campus Guide for Employees and our Residential Requirements to reflect these and other recent changes.

Thank you,

The President’s Cabinet:

Maria Klawe, President
Karen Angemi, Director of the President’s Office and Secretary to the Board of Trustees
Thyra Briggs, Vice President for Admission and Financial Aid
