Atwood Residence Hall Fire
Updated: January 21, 2026, 8:22 p.m. PTWe are writing to inform you of a fire that was reported on the Harvey Mudd College campus at approximately 7 p.m. today in a room within the Atwood Residence Hall. Emergency responders arrived quickly and have worked to contain the situation and ensure the safety of our community.
Immediate Response and Safety Measures:
- The affected area has been evacuated and secured.
- Fire and emergency personnel from LA County Fire are on site.
- Campus Safety, DSA and F&M teams and others are assisting with the response and damage assessment.
What You Should Do:
- Avoid the area around Atwood Residence Hall until further notice.
- Follow instructions from Campus Safety and emergency personnel.
- If you are in a nearby building and smell smoke or feel unsafe, evacuate calmly and report to the Linde Activities Center.
