{"id":731,"date":"2016-07-29T11:34:47","date_gmt":"2016-07-29T18:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/study-abroad\/?page_id=731"},"modified":"2024-09-04T08:12:46","modified_gmt":"2024-09-04T15:12:46","slug":"student-pre-travel-requirements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/study-abroad\/health-and-safety-while-studying-abroad\/student-pre-travel-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Pre-Travel Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mandatory personal comprehensive health insurance that will cover the student while abroad.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mandatory health screening to address any health and safety concerns prior to departure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mandatory orientation including:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>General health and safety information for international travel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic information on medications and immunizations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Online workshop for dealing with culture shock and adjustment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussion of drugs and alcohol use and other behavior issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional optional student resources including:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Resources for specific populations (LGBTQ, women, students of color).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parent information on the Office of Study Abroad website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On-site orientation upon arrival by provider\/host institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mandatory submission of all Harvey Mudd College study abroad forms by April 30 for fall study abroad and November 30 for spring study abroad.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mandatory travel registration in the <span class=\"s2\">World Aware Travel Tracker Database.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review host country travel information at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.travel.state.gov\">Travel.State.Gov<\/a>.&nbsp;The Department of State (DOS) has adopted a new travel advisory system.
