As the assistant dean for residential life, Michael Edwards oversees student housing, helps to supervise the residential life staff in collaboration with the interim dean of students, and manages the programming model for the office of residential life. Dean Mike ensures that student leaders are fostering an inclusive, engaging, and thriving community on campus. Dean Mike also serves as an adviser to the Associated Students of Harvey Mudd College (ASHMC) Senate and supervises room assignments for first year students, collaborates with ASMHC to run the annual room draw process, and maintains housing related data in the College’s administrative data management system.
Prior to joining Harvey Mudd, Dean Mike worked at the University of Redlands as the program coordinator for first year initiatives in the Residence Life & Housing office and the Student Leadership & Involvement Center.
Dean Mike is a graduate of the University of Redlands, with a B.A. in race and ethnic studies. He holds an M.A. in education/higher education, also from the University of Redlands.
Dean Mike is a native of Claremont, attending his first 5-C college party at the age of one month old. He is also involved with the Claremont Emergency Response Team (CERT) and is a member of the Hate Incident Response Team for the Community & Human Services Commission of the City of Claremont.
