Summer Pay Tax Forms
Summer stipends are considered fellowship income by the IRS. It is therefore not subject to tax withholding and is paid in full to recipients; they are not considered wages reportable by a W-2 or services reportable by a 1099. We recommend students use summer stipend payment(s) and other related correspondence as the official documentation of the receipt of these funds for tax filing purposes.
