Sharon was pursuing a creative writing major at UC Santa Cruz when she took an astronomy course that changed her life. She switched to a physics major, then earned a PhD in physics at Cornell studying colloidal crystals before taking her present position in L. Mahadevan&#8217;s group at Harvard. Dr. Gerbode will delay her start in Claremont by one semester, joining us in January, 2012.
