The department  has thirteen full-time members; we graduate about 20 physics majors each year, a majority of whom go on to PhD programs in physics and related fields.<\/p>\n<p>We seek&nbsp;candidates with broad intellectual interests who can excel at teaching outstanding undergraduates and who can establish an active research program involving undergraduates. Applications should demonstrate a candidate&rsquo;s interest and ability to teach a broad range of courses in the undergraduate physics curriculum; candidates may be asked to provide transcripts or other materials to address this criterion. We welcome applications from outstanding candidates regardless of subfield, but we are particularly interested in a candidate who can develop a vibrant research program in atomic physics, earth and planetary physics, or condensed matter theory.<\/p>\n<p>The department and the college place a high value on engaging students from a broad range of backgrounds, and candidates with a demonstrated commitment to engaging a diverse student body and broadening participation in physics are especially encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n<p>For full consideration, applications should be received by <strong>1 November 2021<\/strong>, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled. On-campus interviews will include both teaching an upper-division physics class and presenting a research colloquium.
