Summer Welcomes 2023

Summer Welcome Receptions

Parents of the incoming Class of 2027 and transfer students are invited to attend regional Summer Welcomes hosted/co-hosted by current and past HMC parents. Summer Welcome Receptions are a great way to make connections within the Mudd parent community, learn about the Mudd experience, and ask questions. For those that can’t attend a regional event, we have a Virtual Summer Welcome Hangout planned. Note: We are continuing to add receptions, please check back for updates.

Summer Welcome Series

Registration for our Summer Welcome Series of virtual events for families will open in June! The schedule includes sessions designed to help new-to-Mudd families better understand the HMC student experience and help prepare for the fall. The session is designed to answer questions and offer additional resources for first-generation students and family members. A first-generation student is defined by the Harvey Mudd College Office of Institutional Diversity as a student for whom:

  • Neither parent/guardian graduated from a four-year college. This means that a student is part of the first generation in their family to attend a four-year college/university to attain a bachelor’s degree.
  • Neither parent/guardian completed a four-year college degree in the United States.
  • Only one parent/guardian completed a four-year college degree in the United States.

We understand that you may encounter terms, schedules or information that may be confusing or unclear while becoming a member of the Mudd community. We intend for the session to be a conversation between families and staff so that we can address your specific needs.
