What is the Annual Mudd Fundd (AMF)?

The Annual Mudd Fundd (AMF) is a primary source of ongoing, budget-relieving funding for Harvey Mudd College. It is comprised of donations from alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and other friends of the College. Nearly six percent of Harvey Mudd’s operating budget, over $3.88 million, is provided by the AMF. Donors choose to support either student financial aid, academic departments, or the College’s greatest needs.

Why does parent participation to the Annual Mudd Fundd matter?

Every gift counts. The AMF allows donors of all means to make an impact at Harvey Mudd. Supporting Harvey Mudd with an annual gift highlights your satisfaction with the College and its focused mission to educate STEM leaders in a broad array of disciplines to encourage a clear understanding of the impact of their work on society.

Where does my donation the Annual Mudd Fundd go?

Greatest Need

Tuition payments and endowment returns provide 86 percent of Harvey Mudd’s annual operating budget. Your undesignated gift to the AMF helps cover the difference between the cost of a Harvey Mudd education and the price paid by students and families – even those paying full tuition.

Student Financial Aid

Help keep Harvey Mudd a need-blind institution, for U.S. students, which makes its admissions decisions without regard to a student’s financial background.

Academic Departments

Support the general operating budgets of biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or humanities, social sciences, and the arts (HSA).

Last year 600 parents—over 33 percent of those solicited—donated to the College, almost all of whom supported the Annual Mudd Fundd.

What is Harvey Mudd’s fiscal year?

The fiscal year mirrors the academic year beginning July 1 and ending June 30.

Can I designate my gift to something specific?

Are there tax benefits?

Gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. The Internal Revenue Service recognizes Harvey Mudd College as a 501(c) 3 tax-exempt organization. There are additional tax benefits to making gifts of appreciated stock or setting up annuities and trusts with the College.
