These two semesters are known as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/academics\/common-core-curriculum\/\">Common Core<\/a> mathematics courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Core Courses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For the classes entering fall 2022 and beyond, the two semesters are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.hmc.edu\/preview_course_nopop.php?catoid=24&amp;coid=7983\">MATH019 HM &#8211; Calculus<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.hmc.edu\/preview_course_nopop.php?catoid=24&amp;coid=7988\">MATH073 HM &#8211; Linear Algebra<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.hmc.edu\/preview_course_nopop.php?catoid=24&amp;coid=7814\">MATH055 HM &#8211; Discrete Mathematics<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.hmc.edu\/preview_course_nopop.php?catoid=24&amp;coid=7989\">MATH082 HM &#8211; Differential Equations<\/a>, and other math courses are often taught during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/mathematics\/program\/summer-mathematics\/\">Summer Session<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more detailed placement information, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/mathematics\/program\/placement-core-classes\/\">Core Math Placement<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At Harvey Mudd College, all students take at least two semesters of mathematics, regardless of their major.
