Electric Vehicle Charging Station

With assistance from a donation from Thomas H. Bleakney ’69, and Marcus L. Witte P’18 P’21, the College has three electric-vehicle charging stations available for HMC constituents in the northwest parking lot on campus (north of Parsons, west of the Shanahan Center). The Harvey Mudd College EV charging stations are a dual port ChargePoint system that can charge two vehicles simultaneously per station. The station rates are currently $.17/kWh for Harvey Mudd College constituents. 

Please sign up with ChargePoint using the following link to request to be added to the HMC group: ChargePoint. If you already have a ChargePoint account, use your current login information to submit a request to join the HMC group. Additionally using the app, browse connections and request to join using connection code “HMC91711″.  You must be part of the HMC group to have access to the HMC EV charging stations. Upon submitting a request to join the HMC group, please send an email to parking@hmc.edu to complete the activation process to the HMC group. 

ChargePoint has a website and smartphone apps for both iPhone and Android that offer the ability to find available stations, start charging, receive notification when a station becomes available, and a waitlist capability to schedule a time for your charging. Drivers will have the opportunity to fully charge their vehicle, then 30 minutes to move their vehicle upon completion of charging. The app offers a waitlist queue for easy scheduling. Additionally, the charging stations have the ability to auto-queue meaning you can schedule to automatically join the waitlist at a specific time and day of your choosing. In order to use the auto-queue, you will need to login through the ChargePoint desktop website using the same credentials you use to login through the mobile app. There are also step-by-step instructions located on the charging station screen and ChargePoint driver’s assistance number is 888.758.4389. The EV parking stalls are for connected (i.e. plugged in) electric vehicles only; users will be charged for the time they are connected to the charging station whether or not their vehicle charging is complete. Please park in charging station stalls only if you have an electric vehicle and you are connected to the charging station. Once your vehicle is charged, please relocate your vehicle so others may use the station.
