We were all taking the systems exam and I gave up and said I need to be relaxed, as Sadat had the history of “High Score zero, low score zero, good test.”

I said I have studied enough. So my friend and I went to the Jethro Tull concert at Universal that night. I scored one of the highest scores on the test next day.

The key is to enjoy who is teaching you and know they know what they are trying to teach, which Sedat did.

I would often see Sedat eating lunch or just enjoying some sunshine in the courtyard between Olin and Sprague and would stop by to chat with him or join him for lunch. Our conversations spanned education, the college, politics, and more. I always enjoyed these few minutes together. Sedat was a kind, wam, and gentle person with a stunning intellect. I’ll miss him very much.

my favorite memories of Professor Serdengecti are all the lessons I learned from him. His exams were legendary for providing a “learning experience” He always challenged us to think outside the box. When I told him I wanted to learn Fortran and didn’t have room in my schedule, he taught me one-on-one in his office for one credit. Loved going there, having him write on a yellow notepad, essentially taking my notes for me. I don’t really remember Fortran anymore (does anyone?) but I remember soaking up knowledge from him.
