Harvey Mudd College is pleased to host the 42nd Annual Informal Gathering on Atmospheric Science and Photochemistry (IGASP)<\/strong> in Spring 2027<\/strong>. The exact date, schedule, registration information, and program details will be announced soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IGASP is a one-day symposium bringing together researchers, students, and colleagues from Southern California and beyond to share work in atmospheric science, photochemistry, air quality, climate-related research, and related fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We look forward to welcoming the IGASP community to Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About IGASP<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Informal Gathering on Atmospheric Science and Photochemistry (IGASP)<\/strong> is a long-running regional symposium focused on research and discussion in atmospheric chemistry and related areas. The meeting highlights work from students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and scientists across the region and provides an informal setting for scientific exchange and community building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2027 meeting will continue this tradition with opportunities to hear invited talks, share research, and connect with colleagues. Additional information about poster presentations, registration, and the full program will be posted as it becomes available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conference History<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The first meeting took place in 1984 to commemorate Professor Sidney Benson\u2019s 65th birthday. Participants gathered to discuss kinetics relevant to chemical processes driven by photons in the atmosphere. Following the success of that meeting, the Southern California atmospheric chemistry community proposed holding a similar gathering each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The symposium became known as the Informal Symposium on Kinetics and Photochemical Processes in the Atmosphere (ISKPPA). Over time, the topics discussed expanded beyond kinetics and atmospheric photochemistry to include aerosol science, air quality, climate science, and other areas of atmospheric research. In 2022, the meeting was renamed the Informal Gathering on Atmospheric Science and Photochemistry (IGASP) to better reflect the breadth of the community and its research interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
