In this piece they have industrialized the chance to vote as an engaging process with a visual output. The piece is inspired by Simon’s Kleroterion, questioning how voting can be reimagined. Democracy is currently failing to make voters feel influential. By designing a voting experience that is engaging and produces a visual output, the participant knows their vote has an impact.

The process follows these steps:

Pick up a marble

Drop the marble in the funnel above the desired bowl

See how the beam balances

The only catch is the marble may not fall in the desired bowl if the funnel is not lined up correctly. R2Democracy2 helps the voter examine what it means to make a choice that may not end up as they want, as well as go through. Similar to our current democracy, the marble may not fall in a bowl at all, therefore the desired outcome may never be reached. However, whereas the United States democracy hides much of this process behind a veil, with this piece the voter can see every aspect of the path their marble follows, providing them with full transparency.

R2Democracy2 (2026) Sara Wexler and Marika Ragnartzwood, stainless steel, stone Wexler ’26 and Ragnartz ’26 are both majoring in engineering […]

["post-143","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
