Harvey Mudd College conducts the following drills\/exercises:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Residence Hall&nbsp;Evacuation Exercise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Residence Halls only. The date and time of this exercise will&nbsp;<strong>not<\/strong>&nbsp;be announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mass Notification System Test and Exercise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The College campus-wide mass notification test (MUDD Alert and Exterior Broadcast System) will be in conjunction with other scheduled exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tabletop Emergency Response Exercises<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Harvey Mudd College Incident Management and Incident Support Teams routinely conduct and participate in the campus exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fire Alarm and Building Evacuation Exercise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Academic and administrative buildings only. Date and time will be announced.  Building Evacuation Coordinators participate in the campus exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Earthquake Drill: The Great California ShakeOut<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Millions of people worldwide will practice how to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthquakecountry.org\/step5\/\"> Drop, Cover and Hold On<\/a> during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shakeout.org\/\">Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills<\/a>, which began in California in 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone, everywhere, should know how to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shakeout.org\/dropcoverholdon\">protect themselves during earthquakes<\/a>. Even if earthquakes are rare where you live, they may happen where you or your family travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills<\/em>&nbsp;are an annual opportunity for people in homes, schools, and organizations to practice what to do during earthquakes, and to improve preparedness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthquakeauthority.com\/california-earthquake-risk\/seven-steps-to-earthquake-safety\">California Earthquake Authority Seven Steps to Earthquake Safety<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Drill<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Date:<\/strong>&nbsp;Usually in October<br><strong>Time:<\/strong>&nbsp;Between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.<br><strong>Length of drill:<\/strong>&nbsp;Approximately 10-15 minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What To Do:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Drop<\/strong>, <strong>Cover<\/strong>, and <strong>Hold On<\/strong>: All College faculty, staff, and students should <strong>drop<\/strong> to the ground, take <strong>cover<\/strong> under a table or desk, and <strong>hold on<\/strong> to it as if a magnitude 7.8 earthquake were happening.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you cannot do this, please consider where you would stay down for at least 60 seconds. Remember:&nbsp;<strong>practice now<\/strong>&nbsp;so you will know what to do should you experience a large magnitude earthquake.
