Food for the Soul Fund

OID is happy to bring to you a fund designed to build community outside of the classroom between students of color and staff or faculty of color. We can build a stronger community by individuals regularly and persistently doing a variety of simple things together that give them chances to connect with others, build trust, and get involved in doing things together.

Here’s how it works:

  • Students invite a staff member or faculty member to lunch or dinner.
  • Send Dean Zack an email with the request before the outing to zritter@hmc.edu. (Funds are limited, so you need to ask in advance for approval to ensure sufficient funds exist.)
  • One of the students pays for the lunch and the college reimburses the student.

A special thanks to the Black Lives at Mudd Club (BLAM) for requesting this fund and thank you to President Maria Klawe for resourcing this fund!
