{"id":284,"date":"2014-01-07T09:13:26","date_gmt":"2014-01-07T17:13:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/dean-of-faculty\/?page_id=284"},"modified":"2023-09-01T11:36:34","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T18:36:34","slug":"multi-campus-teaching-observation-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/dean-of-faculty\/teaching-and-learning-committee\/multi-campus-teaching-observation-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Multi-Campus Teaching Observation Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In an effort to continually improve the teaching resources available to our faculty, Harvey Mudd College, Pitzer College, Claremont McKenna College, Pomona College and Scripps College have designed a program whereby faculty from different campuses can visit a class and provide feedback on the experience to the instructor. This program provides an incentivized means for faculty to help one another improve their teaching; after all, our faculty are our best teaching resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any faculty member who wants to participate in the program can simply contact their dean&#8217;s office and request that a classroom visit (by a faculty member from another campus) be arranged. The visitor&#8217;s name can be provided, or the dean&#8217;s office can arrange for an appropriate visitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two faculty can then arrange times for two or three classroom visits, to be followed by an on-campus lunch where feedback can be informally provided. The dean&#8217;s office of the requesting faculty member will pay a $100 honorarium to the visitor and will also pay for the lunch. The requesting faculty member will be asked to fill out a brief survey so that the usefulness of the program can be tracked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This program is independent of the faculty review process.
