A key company objective is to extend the lifetime and operating temperature of their inner engine components, which contributes to reduced fuel burn. Currently, a carbon-based mechanical seal is used in their engine valves, tolerating temperatures from -65\u00b0F to over 800\u00b0F. However, harsher conditions can significantly reduce their lifespan.
