Maintenance of these systems is both expensive and time consuming. This project investigates the feasibility of replacing the current system with one based on white LED technology. With recent advances in LED technology this will significantly reduce the operation and maintenance costs and extend the lifetime of the system. Using today&#8217;s technology, a prototype light source has been designed, built and tested.
