In laparoscopic surgery, smoke is a byproduct that must be evacuated because it impedes visibility and is potentially hazardous, ultimately prolonging surgery. In addition to designing the systems to be wireless, the team is incorporating recirculation of insufflated air into the smoke evacuation system and first-person view (FPV) VR technology into the camera system.
