Fortunately, we were able to obtain funding and plan for two very big pieces of work during the winter break.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">First, we&#8217;re replacing 14 ceiling boxes that house the AV devices.\u00a0 The original boxes were poorly designed, too small and without ventilation, which has caused lots of intermittent issues such as cables being crimped and devices overheating and failing.\u00a0 The new boxes are designed to house AV equipment and are properly ventilated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here are the rooms getting new ceiling boxes:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2425, 3481, 2450, 2454, 3461, 2460, 2421, 3421, B450 and B454<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Second, we&#8217;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">re replacing 21 projectors in the first two weeks of January,\u00a0 and one of them is the center projector in 1430 (Lecture Hall).\u00a0 These projector upgrades should also reduce AV problems.\u00a0 The new projectors use lasers;\u00a0 we\u2019re saying goodbye to replacing bulbs that have gone dim, exploded or otherwise misbehaved.\u00a0 Projectors are being installed as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2 new projectors: 2421, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2425, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2440,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2460, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2465, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">3460, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">3465, <\/span><\/p>\n<p>3 new projectors:\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">3481, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">B460,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1430<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During the week of January 9, we will also be doing firmware upgrades and preventative maintenance on the Crestron system, which is\u00a0 used to control all of the projectors, lights and screens.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The above is the <strong>first phase<\/strong> of our work.\u00a0 We have requested funding for fiscal 23-24 (July 23) to replace the Crestron control system, so we anticipate that we may still see some issues during the Spring 23 semester, while we continue to use the old system.\u00a0 \u00a0Nevertheless, we are happy to report this progress!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As you may have experienced directly, the AV systems in Shanahan have been showing their age during the Fall semester,\u00a0 [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":35,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[14,5,17,59,7,10],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5859","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-cis","category-from-cis","category-infrastructure","category-infrastructure-and-systems-ias","category-strategy","category-cioupdates"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/cis\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5859","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/cis\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/cis\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/cis\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/35"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/cis\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=5859"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/cis\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5859\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":5863,"href":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/cis\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5859\/revisions\/5863"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/cis\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=5859"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/cis\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=5859"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/cis\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=5859"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
