Two-factor authentication provides a second layer of security to HMC Credential logins by requiring extra information via a physical device to log in. This helps prevent anyone but you from accessing your account, even if they know your username and password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Security breaches based on compromised usernames and passwords have been on the increase, and at HMC we have seen a number of these incidents, some as a result of phishing emails. You can learn more by watching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0mvCeNsTa1g\">What is Two-Factor Authentication? (2FA)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duo does not replace or require you to change your username and password. Think of Duo as a layer of security added to your pre-existing login method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Availability<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Available to faculty, staff, and students at HMC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Access the Service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You will automatically be prompted to verify your identity via Duo when you login to a service protected by Duo. Duo supports a variety of hardware devices, including smart phones and hardware tokens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have an urgent Duo verification issue outside of usual Help Desk hours, please call Campus Safety at (909)607-2000.
