6:15–7:15 p.m.

Jennifer Alanis

Nicole Herrera will discuss how different themes of her identity and intersectionality have shaped her life and career trajectory for the better. As a Latina and a first-generation college graduate, Herrera has always sought connection points and roles that allow her to give back to the Latinx community in the U.S. and in Latin America. A Latin American studies major in college, she’s now a leader in diversity, equity and inclusion. As a woman and a Latina working in tech, she has faced challenges and is often “the only” in the room. She’ll offer advice for overcoming imposter syndrome and learning to see one’s identity as a strength. Through her story, you will see that everyone has an opportunity to turn their identity and experience into their purpose.

Herrera has been at Google for 10 years and currently leads Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Android, setting the strategy to improve representation, inclusion and product inclusion. She is also the founder of Her-Era, a training & consulting firm focused on helping companies improve their DEI strategy.
