Scott McCloud is a cartoonist, comic theorist and author of the seminal nonfiction book Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art, a 215-page comic book about the comics medium that has been translated into more than 20 languages. He's also author of Reinventing Comics (2000), a more controversial look at the comics' revolutions in art, culture and technology, and Making Comics (2006), an extensive exploration of comic storytelling techniques which also resulted in the Making Comics 50 State Tour and the Google Chrome comic.

In a far-ranging talk about comics, cartooning, visual communication and art's relationship to old and new technologies, McCloud will guide the audience through a cascade of hundreds of images.
