This workshop held at CGU lays the foundations for teaching inclusively in classroom contexts where overt and hidden identities, perspectives, expectations, and assumptions meet. Using the metaphor of relationships, we examine the values and assumptions we and our students bring to classroom interaction and derive principles for developing classroom cultures of connection, respect and empathy.
The Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) program was a national initiative launched in 1993 by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) and the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS). The initiative aimed to transform how graduate students prepared for academic careers in higher education. Today, these goals are even more urgent as higher education changes radically. PFF programs play a critical role in helping graduate students prepare for productive and balanced faculty lives of ethical and excellent scholarly practice, teaching, and service.
