Founders' Room Honnold Library
Join editors Brinda Sarathy (Pitzer), Vivien Hamilton (Harvey Mudd) and Janet Farrell Brodie (CGU) for a discussion of their new book, Inevitably Toxic: Historical Perspectives on Contamination, Exposure and Expertise. The essays in this collection take us to sites of nuclear detonation, into neighborhoods impacted by oil drilling and to forests sprayed with pesticides. The editors will discuss how these contaminated spaces have become so pervasive, whose health and wellbeing has been most impacted and what role scientific experts have played in regulating radiation and chemical pollutants.
