DESCRIPTION:The Annenberg Leadership Forum is an integral part of Harvey Mu
 dd College’s commitment to encouraging students to lead with integrity.

  for Leadership Development\, this series features accomplished world-clas
 s leaders in their fields of endeavor who address pertinent leadership iss

 h and Learn\n“Connection as a Foundation for Inclusive Institutions”\n
 Presented by the Harvey Mudd College President’s Scholars\, Joseph B. Pl
 att Campus Center\, Green Room\n\nJoin us for a dynamic Lunch and Learn Wo
 rkshop focused on advances toward the United Nations Sustainable Developme
 nt Goal (SDG) No. 16: Peace\, Justice\, and Strong Institutions. Together\
 , we will explore how creating space for open dialogue\, promoting inclusi
 ve decision-making\, and supporting institutional cultures rooted in empat
 hy and equity can strengthen both STEM communities and society. We’ll al
 so examine how gender disconnection\, when left unaddressed\, undermines p
 eace and justice by reinforcing exclusionary norms. This forum invites our
  community to envision a more inclusive STEM culture that actively builds

 Drinkward Recital Hall\n\nThrough a moderated interview and audience dialo
 gue\, our speakers will challenge outdated gender norms around strength\, 
 vulnerability and collaboration. They will explore how disconnection imped
 es progress in STEM—and inspire students\, faculty and community members
  to actively reimagine and rebuild inclusive STEM cultures. This is more t
 han a conversation—it’s a call to action. Join us to help write the ne
 xt chapter for a more connected\, empathetic and equitable STEM community.
  Livestream link\nSpeakers\nReshma Saujani is a leading activist\, the fou
 nder of Girls Who Code\, the founder and CEO of Moms First\, and the host 
 of My So-Called Midlife with Lemonada Media. She has spent more than a dec
 ade building movements to fight for women and girls’ economic empowermen
 t\, working to close the gender gap in the tech sector\, and most recently
  fighting for the structural changes moms need and deserve including affor
 dable child care and paid leave. She is a New York Times bestselling autho
 r of several books including PAY UP: The Future of Women and Work (And Why
  It’s Different Than You Think)\, Brave\, Not Perfect and the Girls Who 
 Code book series.\n\nKatie Shilton is a professor in the College of Inform
 ation at the University of Maryland\, College Park. Her research focuses o
 n technology and data ethics. She is a co-PI of the NSF Institute for Trus
 tworthy Artificial Intelligence in Law &amp\; Society and a co-PI of the U
 MD Values-Centered Artificial Intelligence initiative. She was also recent
 ly the PI of the PERVADE project\, a multi-campus collaboration focused on
  big data research ethics. She is the founding co-director of the Universi
 ty of Maryland’s undergraduate major in social data science.\n\nHarriet 
 Nembhard\, the sixth president of Harvey Mudd College\, is a widely recogn
 ized leader in the field of industrial engineering\, a voice on the nation
 al level for advancing undergraduate STEM education and a champion for Har
 vey Mudd’s mission.
