Furthermore, the Common App cutoff dates for Early Decision II (January 21) and Regular Decision (February 6) are the final dates for documents to be submitted via the Common Application.  If you are applying for financial aid, please refer to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/admission\/afford\/applying-for-financial-aid\/\">Financial Aid website<\/a> for more detailed instruction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mudd2021-wrapper mudd-wrapper auto-accordion\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"test-optional\">Standardized Testing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2020 we announced these additional changes to our previous standardized testing policy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/about\/2020\/02\/06\/harvey-mudd-will-no-longer-require-sat-subject-tests\/\">We will no longer be considering SAT subject test scores<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/admission\/2020\/06\/19\/harvey-mudd-eliminates-sat-act-requirement-for-fall-2021-fall-2022-applicants\/\">For the high school classes of 2021 and 2022, HMC will be ACT\/SAT optional for all applicants<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/about\/2021\/10\/15\/harvey-mudd-extends-test-optional-pilot-through-2023\/\">HMC extends its ACT\/SAT optional pilot through 2023<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/about\/2022\/11\/14\/harvey-mudd-extends-test-optional-pilot-through-2024\/\">HMC extends its ACT\/SAT optional pilot for an additional year, through 2024<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HMC extends its ACT\/SAT optional pilot for another year, through 2025.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HMC extends its ACT\/SAT optional pilot for another year, through 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong> Students will not be at a disadvantage in our admission process if they are not able to submit or choose not to submit test scores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some other important things to know about testing in our admission process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We do not require the optional ACT writing section or the optional SAT essay. They will not be considered even if they are submitted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have no preference between the ACT or SAT.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We do not use standardized testing in our consideration for merit scholarships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Test-optional Details<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When students apply to HMC, they will be asked on the Common Application to choose their preferred testing plan. That means the students are asked if they want their application to be considered with ACT\/SAT test scores or without.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students are able to change their preferred testing from \u201cDo not consider ACT\/SAT scores\u201d to \u201cConsider ACT\/SAT scores.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students are able to change their preferred testing plan selection through a form on the HMC Applicant Hub until 5 days after their application deadline.
